HYDROSTATIC LIFT (When Words Become A Bridge)
Hydrostatic Lift (When Words Become A Bridge) is a documentary of The Bridge through the archive of its aggregated email communication. Comprised of research queries, outreach, scheduling, document distribution and exchange, design collaboration and legal counsel emails, this sculptural work narrates the past 4 years and 4 months of the daily work of building a bridge, from scratch, as an artist and private citizen harnessing expertise and knowledge towards this goal.
The title refers to the physical phenomenon in which a building is lifted off of it’s foundation—and transformed into a floating vessel—by the infiltration of a large volume of water.
